This week I:
- Contacted the Chief Exec of Tesco about the cheap alcohol they sell in their city centre stores. This does not help with the issue of street drinking – people with alcohol issues need help, not companies making a profit out of their problems.. I often see people around the city with cans of Tesco Pear and Apple Cider and I’ve picked lots of empty cans up too!
- Supported a resident who is having problems getting their landlord to carry out repairs. (You don’t have to be a council house tenant to get my support so please get in touch if you are having problems.)
- Helped residents with a question about parking rules in their area
- Was in contact with Admiral Taverns who have applied for an extension to the operating hours to The Yard to 3am. This is later than the hours set out in the Council’s Licensing Policy and I have objected, as have the police, the Licensing Authority and the council’s Environmental Health team. There will be a hearing on this application on May 27
- Attended Dance City‘s 40th anniversary celebration. It was a great showcase of the work they do in dance – from professional training to community classes and their Seven Bridges cafe and catering service which is a collaboration with the West End Refugee Service
