Weekly update 5: May 19 – 25

This week I have added some new pages to this site:

  • I have started a Monument Residents’ Priorities survey so I can find out more about what residents think is needed to make Monument a great place to live
  • I have launched my first Monument Residents’ Poll. I’ll be using polls to find out residents’ views on issues that have been raised with me. The first poll is asking about whether people think it would be better if the Quayside had segregated cycling and walking paths.
  • The Useful Contacts page has information about where to report some of the most common issues. If I’ve missed anything, please let me know.

I also attended a consultation event for the proposed redevelopment of Percy House, which is on the junction of Percy Street and Gallowgate and 11-19 Leazes Park Road. The proposal, which from Hanro Group, is to for 435 Purpose Built Student Accommodation units with a retail/commercial unit on the ground floor. The proposals also include a new pedestrian walkway through the building to connect Percy Street and Strawberry Lane. This was a pre-application consultation – the actual application is currently being developed. This flyer has a site plan and contact details for the developer. I am currently drafting my comments. If you have anything, you would like me to include, please let me know.
