This week:
I finally received some answers to my questions about Leazes Park and what the process would be for agreeing development. I have been asking about this since the first media stories about the potential redevelopment of St James Park. I wrote to nearby residents setting out the situation and I have created a new Leazes Park page on this website. I will update it with any further news.
I contacted the Tesco Press Office because I have not received an answer to the email I sent to their CEO in May about them selling cheap cider in the city centre. Tesco is currently applying for yet another alcohol licence and I have objected. I have also objected to an application for another off licence on Dean Street.
Parked vehicles from the council depot on Leazes Lane are blocking the pavement and causing issues for pedestrians. There is limited space in the depot for vehicles so I have asked highways to look at how the area could be redesigned so that it works for everyone.
I objected to an application for the Lazy Bear, the pop-up bar that is on Neville Street over the Christmas period because I am concerned that the noise conditions aren’t strong enough. I also objected to an application for a new premises on Leazes Lane because, like the Bar Loco application that I have already objected to, there would be no requirement for people outside to be seated and no restrictions on outside speakers.
