This week I:
- Objected to two licensing applications. One was to relax conditions at The Yard, which would allow people to go in after 1am, which can increase noise and disorder. The other was for a new bar near the Central Station, where there is already a high concentration of licensed premises and restrictions on new ones. The bar is described as a “wine bar undertaking wine tasting and bespoke wine provision” but the applicant then states that the ‘above is offered by way of explanation and does not convert to conditions”. This would mean that, if they get a licence, they could operate as a standard bar. One of my biggest concerns about licensing is the way that applicants present their plans during the licensing process. The actual premises can often be very different.
- Asked the council’s Finance Director why the City Pool project was given a £5 million loan with no security.
- Supported residents with housing and rubbish problems.
- Held my monthly surgery at the CIty Library.
